Thank you, Maureen Dolan and the CdA Press for your continued support and "sharing our stories" in this local community!

An advocate for diabetes - Coeur d'Alene Press: Local News: COEUR d'ALENE - Carson Magee's life changed forever on June 30, 2010.

WELCOME to Carson Magee's new blog!

We are so excited you have decided to join us in Carson's Journey to Washington, DC as a 2013 JDRF Children's Congress delegate representing the state of Idaho.  The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation holds the Children's Congress every two years for the purpose of bringing awareness to our congressmen and women of Type 1 diabetes and to thank them for and ask for their support in funding the SDP (Special Diabetes Program).  The SDP gives $150 million to T1D research every year! EVEN with ALL the walks, galas, etc that JDRF chapters across the country do, we bring in $110 million.,,,so you can see what a big chunk of change this is!!  Without the SDP funding, so many advances in technology for the treatment, prevention and  cure of T1D (like the artificial pancreas) would come to a screeching halt.  We would be set back 10 years or more!  150 delegates from across the country and international delegates from 6 countries will converge on Capitol Hill in our nation's capitol July 8-10...making even the smallest voices heard!

Carson will be speaking at the Coeur d Alene School Board meeting at Midtown Monday, July 1 at 5 pm and at the City Council meeting Tuesday, July 2 at 6 pm held at the CdA library community room!
